Thank you, Iron Blossom
The weekend of August 26th and 27th Richmond’s newest music festival, Iron Blossom rolled into town with Livability Initiative in tow. As hosts of the ADA tent, Team Livability provided support and ran point on all things accessibility throughout the weekend. But that’s not all! We were also able to tour the festival site in advance and recommended many accessibility features to make the space more welcoming. We were able to inspire and implement measures such as a paved path to ADA viewing and a welcome team to help advocate for and support festival goers throughout the weekend.
Our welcome team of Team Livability members and volunteers were truly a highlight of the festival. The response to the call for volunteers was absolutely humbling, with a full team of people ready to attend and advocate assembled within the first 48 hours of putting out the word. We all thoroughly enjoyed getting to interact with our community at such a vibrant event. To be able to connect with our community this way provided so many opportunities to share joy and to grow together!
It would be misleading to say the weekend came and went without issue but being part of Team Livability means being able to turn trials into opportunities for growth and deeper understanding of the needs of the community we seek to support. We learned so much and are very ready for our next event (looking at you, Folk Fest!)
Check back weekly to see what else Team Livability is up to and remember, everyone deserves to live safer, fuller, longer lives!
