What We Do

We are dedicated to supporting the adaptive needs community, older adults, and their caretakers. We believe that by designing spaces, products, and experiences for all ages and abilities, everyone benefits.

Our on-the-ground efforts are currently focused on Richmond, VA – our home base. As our organization grows, so will the scope and range of our activities.

Three Focus Areas

Outreach

By increasing public understanding and knowledge about the importance of accessibility and inclusivity. We aim to create a community where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can thrive.
Current Projects:
  • Community Partnership Highlight: We collaborate with Project: HOMES and AARP to bring the Homefit guide to residents, ensuring that homes are safe and accessible for everyone.
  • Round Up Initiative: We engage local businesses in the accessibility cause through fundraising and awareness campaigns, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.

Assessments

Our Livability Consulting program provides comprehensive assessments to identify and address accessibility barriers in business, residential, and event spaces. With the help of experts and consultants, we offer tailored solutions that enhance inclusivity and accessibility.
We offer:
  • Business Assessments: We develop comprehensive and personalized business assessment programs to help organizations create accessible work environments.
  • Event Assessments: Our team evaluates public events for accessibility, ensuring they are inclusive for all attendees.
  • Residential Assessments: In partnership with Sheltering Arms, we offer no-cost pre-discharge home assessments for individuals with disabilities, helping them transition smoothly and safely back to their homes.

Innovations

We are dedicated to developing new methods and tools to improve accessibility in diverse environments. Our innovative projects aim to push the boundaries of what is possible in accessibility.
Current Projects:
  • Temporary Accessible Bathroom Units (TABUs): Currently in the design phase with the Da Vinci School of Design, this project will soon move to the engineering department to focus on materials and logistics of installation.
  • VCU AI Technology: We are exploring the use of AI technology with Virginia Commonwealth University to create advanced accessibility solutions.
